Singapore is fast becoming a serious contender in the global Superyacht industry, so designers Mike Reeves and James Claydon of Claydon Reeves, decided to find out more.
During a fact-finding visit to Singapore in June 2010, they met with several members of the Superyacht Singapore Association, including a couple of shipyards and the Singapore Economic Development Board. Their aim was to explore the opportunities for design, construction and maintenance. They are delighted that the visit resulted in collaborations with two shipyards on projects they have in-build.
“We are thrilled that our visit was so positive and were delighted with the hospitable welcome we received from everyone we met,” James commented. “It’s great to be part of an emerging Superyacht building industry and we are excited at the prospect of working more closely on projects in Singapore in the future.”
Claydon Reeves will unveil several new concepts including a new 80M design, at the Monaco Yacht Show in September later this year. They are also working on several other large motor yacht projects and will be back in Singapore in October to take part in the 2nd Asia Superyacht Conference. The superyacht design outfit is the latest company to join the SSA's membership.
