The Trip Far West (Part I) - Megaway

33 Tuas Road, the address of Megaway Engineering and Trading Pte Ltd which we were travelling to on the bright, blazing morning of 20th May. 12 SSA members and invited guests gathered eagerly at the Megaway yard, waiting to view the Mega128, a beautiful work in progress.

Mr Ho with his competent team of Managers – Bernard Ho and Kathy Ho led the group of visitors on the tour onboard.

The Mega128 is a steel-and-aluminum superyacht that is being built by an experienced team at the Megaway premises in Singapore. Based on a design done by the in-house team, it is being built to BV (Bureau Veritas) class. Work on this project began way back in 2006 with the designing of the hull and exterior, steel was cut in 2008 and the superyacht is currently being worked on by a dedicated team of tradesmen. If all goes according to plan, the Mega128 is targeting to launch end of this year.

Mr Ho, who is one of the partners at Megaway, quips excitedly about the half-completed masterpiece, “She is like a pretty lady without make-up now. When she is fully completed, she will be like a pretty lady with make-up!” One can easily pick up the passion and enthusiasm Mr Ho has for the superyacht and he readily extends invitation to us to view the beauty when she is completed.

You bet we want to see the “pretty lady” after she has completed her full set of beautiful make-up!
